Privacy policy

Rainier Family is a private, invite-only household assistant. This policy explains its optional Google account connection. The public information pages do not ask you to sign in or submit personal information, and they use no analytics or advertising trackers.

What Rainier can read

After an adult account owner grants Google permission, Rainier can read information needed for requested features: Gmail messages and supported attachments; Calendar events; Drive file names and search results; Docs, Sheets, and Slides content; Contacts; and Tasks. The exact permissions appear in Google’s consent screen. The initial Google connection is read-only: it does not send or delete mail or modify Google content.

How the data is used

Rainier uses connected information to answer household members’ requests, show relevant calendar and task information, and prepare helpful summaries or records from mail and documents. Google searches and read requests are sent to Google. Content returned by Google is processed on private Rainier infrastructure, including local models used to summarize it. OAuth credentials are kept on that private infrastructure so Rainier can make authorized requests.

Who can see it

Each account belongs to its connecting adult. Selected reads may be shared with another authorized adult in the household only when the account owner opts in to household sharing. Children’s Google accounts are not connected automatically. Rainier does not sell Google data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. The operator may access specific data only with the account owner’s agreement for support, when needed for security, or when required by law.

Storage and removal

Rainier may retain local summaries, extracted records, and other results derived from connected content to provide household features. There is no fixed automatic deletion period stated for these records. Revoking access in your Google Account stops future Google API access, but does not automatically remove information already retained by Rainier. To request removal of retained Google-derived information, contact the operator at jeff.arnevick@gmail.com. You can also ask what is retained about your account.

Google API Limited Use

Rainier Family’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. If any future feature needs Google write access or a new use of Google data, Rainier will disclose that change and ask for separate consent before using it.
